2026 Symposium: A Call For Papers

T. E. Lawrence Society Symposium
Leonardo Hotel, Wolvercote, Oxford
September 18-20 2026

The T. E. Lawrence Society is a non-profit educational society dedicated to advancing the life and works of T. E. Lawrence.

The most important gathering organised by the Society in the UK is the Symposium, held every two years. Past speakers have included such eminent names as Jeremy Wilson, Malcolm Brown, Professor John E. Mack, Professor John Adair and Dr Philip O’Brien.

A Call for Papers:

People who are interested in being a speaker at the upcoming T. E. Lawrence Symposium must submit an abstract of about 300 words. Topics must relate to the life of T. E. Lawrence and his world. Given that 2026 marks the 100th anniversary of the publication of the subscribers’ edition of Seven Pillars of Wisdom we would be pleased to hear from anyone who could speak on this subject. 2026 also marks the 110th anniversary of the beginning of the Arab Revolt. Please include a brief description of your research as well and a shortened CV.

The submitted abstracts will be reviewed by a subcommittee of the T. E. Lawrence Society. That subcommittee will make recommendations to the Executive Committee of the T. E. Lawrence Society, who will finalise the selection of presenters.

The symposium presentation should run approximately 50 minutes. The presentation will be recorded and will be posted on the T. E. Lawrence Society website.  The speaker will also submit a written version of the presentation at a later date to be published in The Journal of the T. E. Lawrence Society.

Abstracts should be submitted to Kevin Winter, Chairman of the T. E. Lawrence Society.
